About the event

Pursue the path to becoming a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP). 

This is the required LIVE online seminar for those pursuing certification as a Certified Dementia Practitioner and who qualify with NCCDP.  Please log on to the NCCDP website to verify if you are eligible. If you do not intend to pursue the path to Certified Dementia Practitioner and just want to come for the education only, you are welcome to do so. You will have 30 days post seminar to submit your CDP application to NCCDP for consideration if you qualify.

Seminar Goals and Objectives:

  • To provide fundamental education on dementia and dementia care.
  • To enhance the quality of life of dementia patients through educating care providers.
  • Foster sensitivity & respect for the dementia client.
  • To teach communication techniques.
  • To provide sensitive approaches for assisting patients with activities of daily living.
  • Participants will have an understanding of dementia.
  • Identify common causes of aggressive, repetitive and sundowning behaviors in older adults.
  • Describe behavioral/care interventions that may be used to prevent, reduce, or eliminate difficult care situations.
  • Describe challenges related to caregiver stress and utilize stress reduction techniques.
  • Learn alternative activity interventions that are success-oriented and failure-free.
  • Receive a certificate of attendance in the seminar

Schedule:

  •   8:00 am ET  All participants need to login with a working video and microphone no later than 8:00 am ET
  • 10:15 am ET  Mid-morning break
  • 12:00 pm ET  Lunch Break
  •   3:30 pm ET  Mid-afternoon break
  •   5:00 pm ET  Seminar concludes

To Earn Credit:

  • You must have your video on and actively particpate throughout the seminar
  • Due to large class sizes, you can leverage the Zoom chat feature to engage the instructor and fellow seminar attendees.
  • Once the seminar has ended, your instructor will email the Certificate of Completion to use for your application with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (www.nccdp.org) towards earning your CPD credential.

CEU credits are available for nurses (via CEU Network) and licensed social workers in Georgia (via Georgia Society of Clinical Social Workers).

All attendees will receive an ebook version of the student workbook at no additional charge.
